Les ReBelles

We are very excited to have Les ReBelles back for the 2nd year! There performances are always great!
Les ReBelles, also known as “The ReBelles,” celebrate the women of New Orleans by connecting them through dance regardless of age, shape and background. We are a mix of professional and amateur dancers who celebrate the historic fight for women’s rights by visiting the different eras when significant progress was made towards “La Liberation de la Femme”. Think 1920’s flapper, 1960’s go-go, turn of the century French Cancan, etc… All that, with a French or European twist!

2nd Annual Teacher/Staff Ticket Initiative

The ISL PTO will be raising money to help our campus’ teachers and staff members attend the Refrigerator Art Auction and Gala.  This was very successful last year. All campuses were able to buy tickets for every staff member who wished to attend.
Our wonderful teachers and staff members are the core of what makes our school great. We want them to join the ISL community in celebrating our school at the gala, and need your help to make this happen.
Please consider sending a donation in any amount with your child prior to September 8th. Donations will be placed into a pool from which teacher/staff tickets will be purchased.

You will receive a Teacher/Staff Ticket Initiative flyer in the upcoming weeks.

What is the Teacher Ticket Initiative?

What is the Teacher Ticket Initiative?

Each year ISL hosts a Gala- Refrigerator Art Auction & Gala.

This is one of only two campaigns ISL holds to raise funds for programming, services, and resources not covered by state and federal funds. This year is our 13th one!

We are very excited that we get to do this every year. The money our Gala raises goes to our operational budget. To read “Where does the money go” article click here.

Based on our budget and offerings, the Gala costs ISL $67.00 per person. Tickets to the gala cost attendees $75.00 per person, $140.00 per couple. As you can see, at most, we only make about $10 per person from the ticket sales. Our event is priced that way to attract more attendees who will then bid on the auction items. Our profit comes from our auction and our sponsorships. Because of this, we cannot afford to give complimentary tickets to anyone. However, we always enjoy having our staff at the event, supporting the efforts to give back to our school.

Luckily, we have some amazing parents many of whom donate each year to sponsor teachers to attend the gala at no cost to the teachers. Development works closely with the parents to generate enough funds to sponsor teacher tickets for those employees who have expressed an interest in attending and requested a Teacher Ticket for the gala by the specified DUE DATE.

PARENT DONATIONS
One parent from each campus has stepped up and wants to make this initiative work!
  • Tiffani Brown-Banks (Uptown/Mid-City)
  • Julie Gillis (Jefferson)
  • Dr. Erica Murray (Westbank)
These parents have agreed to lead the efforts to raise funds to cover teacher tickets for the teachers that request a ticket by the due date.

Things you need to know:

  • You’ll receive an email from a parent with Teacher Ticket Initiative instructions (This will probably be forwarded to you from your campus office)
  • You’ll need to respond to the parent who emailed you NO LATER than Friday, August 12, 2016 if you would like to request a Teacher Ticket. This is a hard and fast deadline for ALL campuses, no exceptions, no late requests will be accepted.
    • The Teacher Tickets are non-transferable. This is important! This means, the parents donate towards the purchase of a ticket for the Teachers who requested tickets since this is what is outlined in the letter requesting the donation. Under fundraising ethical obligations, ISL may not transfer a parent's donation to another individual not on that list even if it is another staff member.
    • Parents have requested that if a staff member is unable to attend the gala after a donation has been made, that the donation is then made directly to ISL and not to another individual. Under donor rights, ISL must honor this request.
